Vice President for Institutional Advancement



Tidewater Community College invites applications for the position of Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

The largest provider of higher education and workforce development services in Hampton Roads, TCC serves some 35,000 students annually. With four campuses and regional centers for the visual arts, performing arts, health professions, advanced technology, and automotive technology, TCC is a comprehensive institution offering more than 150 education, workforce training and development services, and general community enrichment and outreach.

 The Vice President for Institutional Advancement provides a strategic fundraising vision and subsequently leads and manages all philanthropic functions – both frontline and operational. 

The Vice President is responsible for developing, administering, and monitoring, all advancement functions and private and public sector fundraising, including annual giving programs, alumni relations and fundraising, corporate and foundation relations, all public and private sector grants, major gifts, and campaign leadership. Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the President’s Cabinet, the Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA) is Chief Advancement Officer and serves as the Executive Director of the Tidewater Community College Educational Foundation. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated major gifts and/or campaign experience with a solid record of achieving or exceeding goals. A record of progressive leadership positions in institutional advancement, with a preference for higher education experience. Strong management skills, both strategic and operational, and a demonstrated ability to build, manage, and motivate an effective team. A strong track record with major gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving, annual giving, special events, and constituent relations. Strategic planning and decision-making capabilities based on research, analysis, and sound judgment to be applied toward the development of an innovative advancement program with the leadership skills to ensure its successful implementation. The ability to build collaborative relationships with both the campus community and a diverse alumni and constituent base. Self-confidence, integrity, and a flexible leadership and personal style that will earn the respect and attention of the campus community. Superior communication skills to express verbally and in writing the college’s institutional identity and fundraising goals with clarity, passion and persuasion. Ability to ensure dynamic processes in all phases of donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. A Master's degree, with a doctorate degree preferred, from a regionally accredited college or university.

SALARY: Expected salary range of $118,881 to $147,308. Actual salary will be determined based on individual qualifications and experience with consideration for internal alignment factors. The college offers an excellent benefits package.
