Located in Springfield, Virginia, NOVA’s Medical Education Campus (MEC) is a technologically sophisticated and specialized campus dedicated to the education and clinical preparation of Healthcare professionals. As the academic leader of the Nursing Division, the Dean reports directly to the Medical Education Campus Provost. The Dean of Nursing has a scholarly vision and exceptional leadership qualities to advance the College’s distinctive mission and vision, strategic goals, and policies and procedures for the Nursing Division faculty, staff and students. The Dean of Nursing creates and develops an effective, collegial environment that fosters innovation and excellence in nursing education, clinical practice, and community service. This position will be responsible for daily operations, budget preparation, fiscal administration, and overall management of the Nursing Division. This recruitment is being filled, contingent upon availability of funds.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

As the academic leader of the Nursing Division, the Dean reports directly to the Medical Education Campus Provost. The Dean ensures program innovation, implementation, and evaluation; faculty/staff hiring, mentoring, fiscal management, and collaboration with leaders in the program’s partnerships; and community and professional outreach. The Dean of Nursing oversees and sustains full Virginia Board of Nursing approval and ACEN accreditation of the Nursing program as well as specialized programmatic accreditation of other clinical services programs. The Dean will participate in new program development, curriculum management, assessment of student learning outcomes and will assure compliance with all college and programmatic accreditation requirements.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution. Current Virginia Nursing license (or eligibility to obtain license). Three years of full-time, related progressive administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral degree (DNP or PhD in Nursing) from a regionally accredited institution. Previous experience as a site visitor for a specialized programmatic accreditation authority or for regional accreditation authority. Previous experience with specific accrediting and licensing agencies and processes such as ACEN/CCNE and Virginia Board of Nursing as well as accreditors involved in other clinical programs. Previous experience with and commitment to associate degree programs and curriculum / teaching at the community college level.

 

Operation of a State Vehicle: Occasional
